Old Bethpage Elementary School kindergarteners welcomed their families for a special celebration marking the end of their nonfiction study of sea creatures and marine wildlife. Third graders in Mr. Shebes’s class recently celebrated their hard work and accomplishments at a Writing Celebration, where students shared published personal narrative, informational and opinion pieces with classmates and family members. Families explored each student’s “library” of writing, left thoughtful feedback and celebrated the creativity, perseverance and growth the authors demonstrated throughout the year.

Students Design Miniature Museums During Heckscher Art Experience

Students at Old Bethpage participated in a special in-class lesson led by the Heckscher Museum of Art, where they explored different art forms including portraits, landscapes, abstract works and 3D pieces. They then applied their learning by designing and building their own detailed miniature museums, which included labeled artwork and creative features.
